The Secret English Garden is a blog that allows Secondary (EFL) English Teachers to share ideas for drama and storytelling. It will also provide different resources to improve language skills.
I think that by performing the play “The Secret Garden” the students can learn a lot. There is the idea of helping each other, an idea which appeals to them. The characters’ personality shows their weaknesses and values. The students can use a lot of vocabulary, practice it in context and connect it. They can also learn about gardening, human relations and the like. And then they can practice talking in front of an audience, what is not very usual among our students. They practice oral English focusing on pronunciation and fluency. It’s a very interesting play for the students.
